How many characters do you have to choose from?
Currently, we have over 30 different characters to choose from, with child favorites such as Captain Davy the Pirate, Superheroes, Younger Child favorites, Sports characters, and Pizzazzers to name a few.

What is a Pizzazzer?
A Pizzazzer is one of our performers not in costume, I guess you can call them a clown without makeup.  Even though we offer clowns, we have found over the years that many children can be afraid of clowns, so our Pizzazzer has colorful clothes, a funny hat, and "kids flair" such as possibly suspenders, buttons, etc...   Kids love our Pizzazzers since they are very approachable and interactive.

What are Option Credits?
We have six different options that you can choose from to customize your event.  Each option is one credit and some options, you may have to use more than one credit if you want to have balloon twisting or face painting/temporary tattoos depending on the number of children at your event.  For example, if you have 20 children and want face painting, that would be two option credits since each face painting/tattoo credit is for up to 12 children.  So for a Superhero party for instance for the one hour show (three option credits), and you have 20 children, you can choose magic show (one option credit) and face painting/tattoos (two option credits).  See our options page for complete details.

Tell me about what happens during a 60 minute show?
The character (or pizzazzer) makes a dramatic entrance to theme music, which we bring, and for birthdays quickly identifies the birthday child to make them feel extra special right away.

Next, the performer will perform the first of two or three option credits (depending on the character).  Let's say it's the magic show.  The Performer will sit the kids down in an area and perform several tricks and mix it with comedy to keep them entertained.

Next, the performer performs the second option.  Let's say it's games.  The kids go outside or in a very large room and the performer brings out a huge colorful parachute, which the kids hold onto one of the handles and the performer plays a few games with the kids.  "Popcorn" is a favorite, where the performer places a stuffed animal in the middle of the parachute while all the kids wave the parachute, making the stuffed animal pop around like popcorn.  The kids try to keep the animal on the parachute.  Then one or two more games are played.

Next, the third option is performed if the party is a non-hooded mascot character.  If the party is with a hooded character, such as Elmer, then the pizzazzer changes into the costume and makes another entrance to theme music for the remainder of the performance.  If the party is with a performer in costume that can perform options (such as a superhero, princess, pirate or pizzazzer), then the third option is performed.  Say it is face painting.  The performer will ask each child what they would like on their cheek or hand and either use safe professional face paints or temporary tattoos of what the child would like, their choice.  This example is for a party under 12 children for face painting, see our options page for details for larger parties.

And then, if cake is being served, the character can stay for the cake celebration and presentation of a birthday gift to put a great end to a unforgetable day.

Do you need any equipment for the event?
Total Kids Entertainment's trained performers bring everything that we need to perform and rarely need any setup time. 

How long in advance do we have to book?
Some weekends are busier than others so you may want to book several weeks before your event, but sometimes we have openings a day before your event, call us for availability. 

How much room do you need for your shows?
That really depends on the number of kids you're expecting at the party. Usually from our experience a normal sized living room with all the furniture moved to sides will be enough for fewer than twenty kids. If you're expecting over twenty kids you might want to consider the backyard.

Do you offer any discounts or promotions?
Yes. We offer discounts for booking any two characters. The price for the second performer is $40 off the price of the party for the first character.  Also all shows for Monday through Friday are discounted as well.

Is there a deposit required to reserve a Character?
Yes, we require a $50 (per hour and/or per service booked) non-refundable deposit to reserve your booking. We accept all major credit cards or money order. If however you choose to pay by money order or cashiers check you will be required to mail in the FULL amount due two weeks before your event date so that we have ample time to process your check. The amount required for the reservation deposit is subject to change at any time without notice.
